Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, police officer, lawyer, politician and former chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, 58, November 21. Born in Yola Adamawa State, he studied at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State 1980 – 1983, and University of Oxford, United Kingdom. He was appointed EFCC chairman 2003-2007. Under Ribadu’s watch, EFCC charged prominent bankers, former as well as serving State governors, ministers, Senate presidents, high-ranking political party members, commissioners of Police, and advance fee fraud (“419”) gang operators. He was the presidential candidate of the default Action Congress of Nigeria, CAN, in 2011 general elections. In August 2014, Ribadu defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he became their governorship candidate in Adamawa State for the 2015 general elections. In 2016, he defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
