Judiciary
AN Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Thursday, ordered the remand of one Tunde Okunlola, 36, in a correctional facility over an alleged armed robbery.
Okunlola, whose address was not provided, is being charged with armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
Ayofe directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She adjourned the case to June 5, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that Okunlola committed the offence in March, at Gbagi and Manatan areas of Ibadan.
Ibrahim alleged that Okunlola and others now at large, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, robbed residents of the aforementioned areas at midnight.
He further noted that the defendant robbed the residents of their cell phones, solar fans, power bank, jewelry, cash and other valuables.
He said the offence contravened provisions of Sections 6(b) and 1(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004. (NAN)
