Man, 39, docked over alleged assault

A 39-year-old man, Babatunde Adeyinka, who allegedly assaulted a man, was on Monday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
Adeyinka, who lives at No.26 Oresanya St., Iyana-Iyesi, is facing a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 3 at about 1.00 p.m. at Iloye, Ota.
Adaraloye said that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Abiola James, by beating him up and causing bruises on his neck.
He said that the offence contravened Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Dec.16 for further hearing. (NAN)
