Man, 59, arraigned for allegedly stealing valuables worth N322,000

A 59-year-old man, Ayodele Amosu, who allegedly stole some valuables worth N322,000 on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihieme, told the court that Amosu and others at large committed the offences on May 30, at 8.00 a.m. at Along PWD Ikeja
Ihieme said that the defendant stole Nikon camera valued N200,000, HP Laptop valued N77,000 and iPhone 6 valued at N45,000, belonging to one Mr Folorunso Akintan.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years’ imprisonment for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Layinka, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
Layinka ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 2, for mention. (NAN)
