Ayodeji Ayeni, the coach of Ekiti United Football Club of Ado-Ekiti, says he firmly believes his players have been improving with every game in spite of two losses so far.
“Even though the two defeats recorded so far in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) were painful, I believe we are still better off.
“I believe the players are improving technically and tactically with every game,” he told newsmen after the team’s training session at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team’s players had resumed training after returning from Abeokuta where they lost 0-1 to FC Nilayo in a match day 3 fixture.
The coach said the goals conceded in the two fixtures they lost away could be explained.
“The two goals conceded were as a result of mistakes which any player, even at the highest level, could make.”
He said he was optimistic that the club’s home fans would smile when the team host Nnewi United in a week 4 NNL match in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.
NAN reports that Ekiti United FC have so far played three matches in the league since its commencement on Feb. 13, losing two away and winning one at home.
They have scored three goals and conceded two, and occupy the eighth position on the NNL Group B1 table.(NAN)
