THE National Agency For Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a bakery in Sokoto over repackaging of other products and operating in poor sanitary environment.

The NAFDAC Coordinator in Sokoto State, Mr Garba Adamu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that the unregistered
bakery was shut with assistance from security men.

Adamu said that the owner of the bakery had been arrested and sanctioned accordingly, adding that materials used were also
confiscated.

He explained that the owner had also been educated and guided on how to register his products according to stipulated guidelines.

According him, NAFDAC engages producers in business-friendly and customer-focussed activities to align with Federal Government’s
policy of encouraging entrepreneurship in Nigerian communities.

The NAFDAC coordinator added that the focus was to substantially subsidise registration requirements for Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs) producing specific low-risk products.

He said the agency embarked on the process while ensuring quality of the products through well entrenched regulatory framework that
had quality management system certification.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment toward safeguarding public health and urged people to supports its activities. (NAN)
