AN NGO, Save and Secure the Child Initiative (SSCI) has called on Nigerians to report any case of child abuse to it so as to get justice for the victim.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Tuesday, its coordinator in Anambra, Mr Kingsley Obi, said such reports could be lodge at: www.saveandsecurethechild.org
He said the NGO had handled more than 40 cases of child abuse in the past and had secured justice for most of the victims.
Obi listed some of the cases as that of the defiling of a 10-year-old girl by a 16-year-old boy and that of a 12-year-old-girl defiled by a 45-year-old man.
It also handled the case of three sisters aged between four years and eight years defiled by a man of 20 years, he added.
“The NGO handled a case of a 16-year-old girl defiled by her own father as well as the case of domestic violence against a 15-year-old girl.
“We became her voice and justice was delivered in her favour,’’ he said.
Obi told NAN that most of the cases handled by the NGO revolved around rape, child molestation, domestic violence and child neglect amongst others.
“This is a group of volunteers driven mainly by passion to give the Nigerian child a voice against abuse.
“We are moved by empathy and compassion to contribute our resources to save children abused at home, in school and elsewhere. “These abused children are often without a voice and we have decided to be their voice.
“We are bent on raising one deep, sustained, resilient and assertive voice for abused voiceless children.
“Our voice shall be a banner of righteousness against the evident evil of child abuse starring Nigeria in the face today,’’ Obi stressed. (NAN)
