No prize money beyond FIFA bonuses for Germany’s women World Cup team
Sports
THE German Football Federation (DFB) will not pay any prize money to Germany’s women team beyond the bonuses offered by football ruling body FIFA at the upcoming World Cup.
Players who win the title at the July 20 to Aug. 20 tournament in Australia and New Zealand will receive 270,000 dollars each from FIFA.
Last year, meanwhile, the DFB offered the men’s national team 400,000 euros (436,770 dollars) for a possible triumph in Qatar.
The team, however, was eliminated in the group stage.
FIFA will pay out 110 million dollars in total prize money to the 32 teams at the 2023 women’s World Cup.
It is a significant increase compared to 30 million dollars in 2019 and 15 million dollars in 2015.
Under the guarantees, each player participating in the World Cup is guaranteed a minimum of 30,000 dollars.(dpa/NAN)
