Ododo sworn in as Kogi governor

USMAN Ododo has been sworn in as the governor of Kogi State. Recall that he was declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Ododo, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, succeeds Yahaya Bello as Kogi governor.

Ododo took his oath of office as the state Governor in Lokoja, the state capital on Saturday, following his November 11 victory.

He got 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, who garnered 259,052.

In that election, Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, pulled 46,362 votes.

Oath

The oath was administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Majebi.

Ododo’s deputy, Salifu Oyibo, also took his oath of office.

Some of the dignitaries present at the event include Vice President Kashim Shettima; APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and immediate past Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello among others.

Speaking after the swearing in, Ododo appreciated his predecessor, Bello, and promised not to disappoint the people of the state.

Also, Ododo, who is the 5th Kogi governor, presented an award of service – Grand Conference Silver Service Star – to Bello. (vanguard)
