ORGANIZERS of the forthcoming Eko 2024 ‘NAWIS Games’ on Thursday said that the all-women event would feature six sports in Lagos.

They made this known in a statement by the Association of Nigerian Women in Sports (NAWIS), through its National Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Olufunke Kanjuni, in Lagos.

Kanjuni stated that the all-female sports, to take place from April 18 to 22, would feature athletes in Cricket, Handball, Basketball, Taekwondo, Table Tennis and Sitting Volleyball.

“The Lagos Chapter of NAWIS is extending an invitation to all members for the ‘NAWIS GAMES’ set to take place in Lagos.

“The event will feature a variety of sports and with a promise for a thrilling and competitive atmosphere for athletes and supporters alike.

“To ensure that all interested members can participate, the host chapter is diligently working on providing affordable accommodation options, taking into consideration the current economic challenges facing the country.

“Details regarding accommodation will be communicated in due course, ” Kanjuni said.

The statement also appealed to all chapter Chairpersons and Coordinators ”to mobilise their members and encourage them to be part of this exciting and unifying event”.

“The National President, Professor Adefunke Suleiman, and the Lagos Chapter Chairperson, Tayo Popoola, will be leading the charge.

“EKO 2024 promises to be a memorable and impactful occasion for women in sports across Nigeria, ” she said. (NAN)
