P-PESPI commends Shell for quick fix of Bonga offloading vessel

THE Partners for Petroleum and Energy Sector Prosperity Initiative (P-PESPI) has commended Shell Nigeria, for the quick-fix of its Bonga Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.
Mr Charles Ibiang, the Chairman of P-PESPI made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
Ibiang said this would boost Nigerian production output that had declined significantly in recent times due to effects of crude oil theft, vandalism and shut-ins with 225,000 bpd.
The vessel, according to him is located about 180 km off the Atlantic coastline, which was shut down on Oct. 18, for strategic and critical assets integrity restoration activities.
He described it as great news for the Nigeria Oil and Gas Sector, adding that it showed that with the right leadership, conducive regulatory and business environment things could work out.
He said with commitment to sanctity of contract and security, Nigeria could build a booming Upstream Petroleum Sector.
Ibiang said this would be beneficial to all, stressing that recording such technical achievements was an investments attracting examples.
“We are proud of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd. contribution and commitment over the years to the development of Nigeria Upstream Petroleum sector.
He said the turnaround maintenance was originally planned for 30 days but was completed in 22 days on Nov. 9, adding that the excellent front-end planning and flawless execution was heart-warming.
“P-PESPI’ is very excited for the renewed impetus that will be injected to rump up Nigeria crude output, when the commissioning and start-up activities reaches it crescendo,” he said.(NAN)
