–

THE National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced the postponement of the rescheduled state congresses in Edo State.  The PDP NWC made the decision at its meeting on Wednesday, October 7, saying that a new date would be announced in due course.

The party similarly adopted the recommendations of the Post-Election Review Committee led by Ike Ekweremadu, deputy Senate president. The national organ of the PDP also commended the committee for the successful review of the performance of the party at the 2015 general elections saying it would help to reposition the party towards regaining its preeminent position in national politics.

The NWC said it accepted the report in good faith, including the noted mistakes and lapses of successive leadership organs of the party therein. It also resolved that the report and recommendations of the committee would first be tabled before the national caucus of the party on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 to kick-start onward consideration thereof.

It affirmed that the rebuilding process, which began with the inauguration of the Ekweremadu-led committee, was very much on course and urged all party members to remain committed to the course of returning the party to power at the centre in 2019.
