TAIWO Lakanu, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, has called for timely information to enable the police to get rid of criminals in the zone.
The AIG in charge of Niger, FTC and Kaduna made the call shortly after addressing officers and men of the Police Command in Niger on Thursday.
Lakanu said criminal activities in the zone would be curbed if the residents volunteered information to the police on suspicious persons or acts in their environment.
He said that an effective operational order had since been issued to the Commissioners of Police in the states on how to confront security threats.
He called on stakeholders to complement the efforts of the police by mobilising residents to be security conscious at all times.
“Stakeholders should support and partner with the police by providing useful information that will lead to crime bursting,” he said.
The AIG said that the zone had partnered with traditional and religious leaders in mobilising residents to be security conscious by reporting dubious characters in their midst.
“We will enhance community policing to enable residents to come forward with intelligence information that will aid us in apprehending criminal elements in their midst.
“We are fully committed towards discharging our primary role which is to secure lives and property of residents,” he said.
He called on the officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as the hard working ones among them would be rewarded
