EMMANUEL Jime, the Benue All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate has advised the electorate to vote out Gov. Samuel Ortom for not paying workers salaries.

Jime disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Makurdi.

He said Ortom failed to attract much votes for presidential candidate of his party Atiku Abubakar in the state because of his inability to clear backlog of salaries.

He, therefore, appealed to the people to “vote him out now since they have voted for Buhari.”

“Vote for me so I can work with Buhari to advance developmental course in the state.

“If the governor is quoted as saying that it is only if Atiku wins, that he will have enough funds to clear salaries, now that Atiku has lost, it means there will be no salaries for workers in the next four years if he is reelected.

“Ortom has shot himself in the leg by that statement. Salaries are government’s responsibility, therefore, for any government that has failed to pay workers, the workers should know what to do.

“They did it before; there was a government that owed salaries for just three months and the workers went out to show their might.

“Now we are talking about a government that is owing for over one year and in some cases even more, so, I think in that case Ortom himself knows that he has failed,” he said.

Jime said he would block all financial leakages by introducing Treasury Single Account (TSA) and Integrated Personal and Payroll System(IPPS) to flush out ghost workers in the state.

He also said he would collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to verify all workers identities through Bank Verification Number (BVN) to make payment of salaries foolproof.

According to him, prudent management of the economy would enable him to pay the new minimum wage of N30,000 per month.

He, therefore, called on the electorate to turn out on Saturday, March 9 to vote for him as governor of the state for sustained economic development.(NAN)
