Supreme Court Upholds Ayade’s Election

THE Supreme Court on Friday, December 9, upheld the election of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State.

Joe Agi, a fellow Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, aspirant, had asked the court to nullify the election of Ayade for alleged false declaration of age.

Agi asked the court to declare that Ayade’s emergence as the PDP flag-bearer was null and void.

Agi, SAN, who contested the 2015 PDP governorship primary against Ayade, had challenged the eligibility of the governor to contest the primary.

But in a unanimous judgement on Friday, December 9, a five-member panel of justices dismissed the application for lacking in merit.
