Presidential aide urges APC members to promote Tinubu’s policies
Politics
ALH. Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) members to engage more with Nigerians on the President’s policies.
Audu made this call in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, there is a need to promote Tinubu’s people-oriented policies and signature programmes, ahead of 29 May, when he will mark two years in office.
He said this was critical in order to keep Nigerians informed, as well as boost the party’s support base across the country, ahead of 2027.
Audu, who is also the convener of the APC National Stakeholders Forum and APC Rebirth Movement, said that Tinubu had provided sufficient evidence of performance in 19 months in office.
According to him, the President’s bold policies have crystallised into massive, tangible results at home and abroad.
He said that this was marked by huge Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) coming into the country, and that debt obligations were being met, to preserve Nigeria’s corporate integrity among nations.
Audu said that about 23 per cent of foreign reserves had surged into the country, indicating $7.69 billion in the last one year.
He attributed the development to the effective monetary and fiscal policies of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Tinubu-led Federal Government.
“While the CBN’s benchmarked interest rate management incentivised foreign exchange inflows, the Federal Government improved activities in the non-oil sector.
“Also, its increased oil production has changed the face of fiscal earnings into its coffers.
“At the states and local government councils, huge federation allocations are being received, with some boasting of triple increases in their coffers,” he said.
He said that this had enabled improved payments to local contractors, while food prices were decreasing as farmers now accessed their farms, owing to improved security by the armed forces.
Audu expressed optimism that as Tinubu’s bold economic policies continued to elicit praise, a food surplus was imminent, with a recent delivery of 255 tractors to mechanise and transform agriculture being distributed to farmers.
He said that with evidence on the ground, the negative rhetoric and antics of opposition politicians misinforming Nigerians about the true state of things were fast evaporating.
“Nigeria is working, and available credible data shows that Tinubu’s government is hitting amazing targets.
“This is with the World Bank projecting a 3.5 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in Nigeria’s economy in 2025 and a slight rise to 3.7 per cent in 2026.
“As Africa’s largest oil producer, Nigeria’s oil sector has seen a significant increase, rising in December 2024 by 6.3 per cent, to reach 1.507 million barrels per day,” Audu said.
He said this was according to the just-released January 2025 Monthly Oil Market Report (MOMR), showing that the government was hitting higher oil production targets after years of fluctuation.
The presidential aide described this as a good omen, especially at a time when the Nigeria Customs Service generated N6.105 trillion in 2024, surpassing its revenue collection target by 20.2 per cent.
He said that it was, therefore, the duty of APC image enhancers to run these facts in the public space and displace the naysayers and their false narrative.
Audu said that soon, the Federal Government would distribute N75,000 cash to 70 million Nigerians, just as it had repatriated $52.88 million of looted funds from the United States recently.
He said that 2025 was crucial in strategic communication engagement with Nigerians, and hence, APC members must let the people know what the President was doing to positively impact their lives.
Audu said that Tinubu’s leadership was increasingly sought after in all places, in the West African region as ECOWAS chairman and around the world.
“He was the toast of the day in Ghana, as special guest of honour at President Mahama’s inauguration recently.
“Just days ago, President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) promised to visit Nigeria, following Tinubu’s request.
“This is the first in UAE’s history. The UAE, specifically Dubai, is a preferred home to many Nigerians after the UK.
“Nigeria has indeed gained much in the last 19 months of Tinubu’s presidency, and he has given us sufficient tools to market his achievements within such a short time,” Audu said. (NAN)
