Residents of Navy Town in Lagos panic over Tank Explosion

RESIDENTS of Ijegun in Navy Town, Ojo area of Lagos where today, January 24, were thrown into panic following a tank farm explosion in the area. The explosion led to fire outbreak in the town.

According to the residents, a loud noise was heard at about midday after a diesel tanker carrying 33,000 fuel fell. Some residents raised concern over the citing of tank farms near the Navy Town Ojo armament depot a distance which according to them is about five nautical miles.

Consequently, some of the residents said they had called on fire service and other emergency agencies to attend to the situation before it would get worse.

It would be recalled that a fire outbreak was recorded at Magodo Area of Lagos State on Monday, January 15 after a gas explosion in the area. During the incident two persons were reported killed, while seven injured.
