Saleswoman in court for alleged N1.2m theft

A 29-year-old saleswoman, Bukola Alarayo, on Wednesday appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Tinubu, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N1.2 million belonging to her employer.

Alario of no address, who was charged with stealing, pleaded not guilty.

The Police prosecutor, ASP Ben Ekundayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Feb. 5, on Broad Street, Lagos Island.

“Alarayo, a saleswoman, stole N1.2 million, proceeds made from two weeks sales that was kept in a safe, which only the defendant had the key to.

“The offense contravenes Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” the police prosecutor said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Oshin, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case until March 10 for a hearing. (NAN)
