Sanwo-Olu makes revelations about COVID-19, higher institutions

BABAJIDE Sanwo-olu, executive governor of Lagos state, has revealed that the epicenter of the COVID pandemic has successfully overcome the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The governor made this known in University of Lagos on January 25, during the public presentation of the book: Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe @60: Audacity of Resilience, a book written to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, the vice chancellor of the University of Lagos.

In the event which witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Babajide Sanwo-Olu, executive governor of Lagos state, former vice chancellors of the University of Lagos, Lanre Tejuosho, pro-chancellor, University of Lagos, Martin Oloja, managing director and Editor-in-chief, The Guardian, some senators, obas, white cap chiefs, Sanwo-Olu lightened up the air with the revelation.

“Let me take this minute to announce to you that we are out of the fourth wave of the COVID”, the governor said.

While describing Prof. Ogundipe, the vice chancellor, UNILAG, the governor called him “a builder, a perfectionist, a man who turns everything God has given to him back to humanity.”

The chief executive officer of Lagos state also revealed that the state has received an approval from the National University Commission, NUC, to house two more universities.

“The NUC has approved for us the conversion of the Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, into University of Science and Technology, and Adeniran Ogunsaya College of Education, AOCOED, into University of Education”, he said.
