THE Zonal Commander, Zone One, of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corp Marshal Bulus Darwang, has warned personnel of the zone against racketeering, extortion and concealment of information.

Darwang gave the warning in Kaduna, while declaring open a One-Day Capacity Building Workshop, organised for provosts in the zone, with the theme, “Toward Building a Committed, Skillful and Productive Workforce.”

Represented by the zone’s Head of Operations, Corps Commander Ford Otti, Darwang called on the provosts to rise up to their responsibilities by addressing the rising incidence of favouritism, driver licence racketeering, and other forms of indiscipline.

According to him, to stem the ugly trend, provosts must dedicate themselves to the ideals of a well-disciplined and professional provost unit.

“It is the duty of provost officers to ensure discipline and orderliness to enhance professionalism of the corps.

“I therefore, urge you to pay attention, develop yourself and make a difference as professional custodians of discipline in entrenching the needed professionalism expected of the corps personnel,’’ he said.

Earlier, the Zonal Provost Officer, Chief Rout Commander Musa Shehu, said that the workshop was organised to equip the provosts with the needed skills to carry out their task effectively.

Shehu said that the zone would continue training and retraining its provosts to ensure the entrenchment of discipline and professionalism among personnel of the corps.

He thanked the Zonal Commander for approving the training and urged participants to be attentive, learn, and put to practice knowledge gain.
