MR Omolabaro Omotilewa, National Rescue Movement (NRM) candidate for the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, has advised the electorate to shun parochial sentiments and vote candidates with competence in the 2023 general elections.

Omotilewa gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure on Wednesday, while speaking on his preparedness for the Feb. 25 election.

The candidate, who said he had the capacity to give good representation for his constituency at the House of Representatives, if elected, urged the electorate to look beyond “the so-called big party”.

“It has become imperative for the electorate to know that the issue of representation for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency has nothing to do with party affiliation or continuity, but rather capacity and competence,” he said.

Omotilewa, who promised to surpass the achievements of the incumbent holder of the seat if elected, said that NRM was made up of people who were not after money, but rather committed to a positive change in the country’s socio-economic status.

He also implored the people of the constituency to take their destiny in their own hands by voting for the candidate of NRM.

“We need to know that it is essential for our people to give room for others to perform in line with the existing rotational agenda ahead of the elections.

“Continuity should not be the reality of electing who to represent our constituency, every quarter must be given equal opportunity at serving the people and definitely it is the turn of our quarters (Ikare-Akoko).

“If elected as a member house of representatives in the forthcoming election, I will facilitate and bring many empowerment to the constituency and the state at large.

“My good people of Akoko North-East/ North-West Federal Constituency, you are part of the change you are talking about and this is the time for you to change the narrative by coming out to support the real change, which is NRM.

“I believe that people are now more enlightened and determined than ever before to take destiny in their own hands by using votes to create a new Akoko North-East/North-West of their dreams.

“Vote for NRM for the betterment of our constituency and don’t sell your votes because your votes is your future,” he said.

Omotilewa called on the electorate to vote massively for NRM and allow fairness and equity to be the hallmark of the election irrespective of party affiliations.

He appealed and solicited support from the people of the federal constituency to represent them at the 10th National Assembly. (NAN)
