Sit at home in South East extended to Thursday – Sources

ALTHOUGH the sit at home order was observed in some states in the South East on Monday, but unconfirmed reports from the zone said that the sit at home order has been extended to Thursday this week.

Realnews gathered from some residents in the South East that the three-day extension would cover the days Nnamdi Kanu is expected to appear in court in Abuja.

There are also reports that the sit at home order may be observed again from 23rd May to 26th May when Nnamdi Kanu is expected in court.

Meanwhile, the sit at home order was observed in four of the five states of the zone on Monday.

According to the reports from the zone, it was not observed in Ebonyi state. Schools were open and students and pupils attended classes, while markets were also open for business.

In Anambra state, the sit at home order was observed and the streets were deserted until 6pm in the evening.

According to Ejenike Ebube, a student, there was no lectures as usual. Onyekwa Frances, who also stays in Anambra state said that workers did not go to work and that pupils and students did not go to school.

The report from Abia state was not different as the sit at home order was observed and workers did not go to work.

Similar reports from Imo and Enugu states said that the sit at home order was observes in the two states.

Although IPOB had earlier issued a statement cancelling the sit at home, order on Monday, but it stated that the order would only be observed on the days Nnamdi Kanu would appear in court.
