Sunny Okongwu, economist, 84, September 23. Born in Enugu, he was educated at St. Michael’s School, Aba, 1941-1946; Government College, Umuahia, 1947-1951; Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, 1951; Boston University, Massachusetts, United States, 1965. He worked as a broadcaster with the defunct Nigeria Broadcasting Service and later joined the Daily Times as a sub-editor and features editor, West African Pilot. He also served as public relations officer of Mobil Oil Nigeria Limited. He was a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, 1970-1972. He was chief planning officer of the defunct East Central State and minister of national planning, 1985-1986, and later minister of finance, 1986-1990
