SINCE its establishment, The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has been transforming lives by committing to the noble task of making the Word of God accessible to all and extending a hand of fellowship to people, regardless of their backgrounds or social statuses and The Society is not slowing down any time soon.

In continuation of this worthy cause, The BSN recently unveiled a groundbreaking project: the reproduction of the Goodnews Bible with Deuterocanonical Books – GNB63DC, a revered text predominantly used by the Catholic community.

This edition is unique as it includes additional books that are treasured by Catholics but not typically found in Protestant Bibles.

These books are the 15 deuterocanonical books: Tobit, Judith, Esther – Greek, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach (Ecclesiasticus), Baruch, Letter of Jeremiah, Prayer of Azariah and the Song of the Three Young Men, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras and Prayer of Manasseh.

This ambitious endeavour reflects the BSN’s commitment to honouring diverse Christian traditions and ensuring that every believer can connect with the scriptures in their preferred format.

The reproduction of the Bible, which had been out of stock for many years, is also about bridging the divide and celebrating the rich tapestry of Christian heritage across Nigeria.

The Bible is written in contemporary English, hence, it is easy to understand and has engaging illustrations that will enrich the reading experience.

The impact of this initiative is already being felt across Nigeria as local churches, seminaries, schools, communities, and individuals are eagerly embracing the newly reproduced GNB63DC.

Our mission of translating and producing Bibles in different formats does not end here as we plan to spread our tentacles and reach more communities with the Word of God. We will not rest until every Nigerian can engage with the Word of God in a language that resonates with them.
