THE police on Monday arraigned three friends in a Wuse Zone Six Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly beating up a man.

The police charged David Emmanuel, Ojeifo Donald and Elijah Henry with three counts of joint act, assault and mischief.

The prosecution counsel, Peter Ejike, told the court that one Egba Michael of Health Trust Pharmacy, Wuse 2, Abuja reported the matter at the Wuse Zone III Divisional Police Headquarters on June 5.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Abdulmajid Oniyangi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of  N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide a verified means of livelihood to be verified by the court officials.

Oniyangi adjourned the matter until June 9 for the police to produce the complainant who was absent in court. (NAN)
