Tom Ikimi, architect, politician and administrator, 73, April 10. Born in Kumba, West Cameroon, he was educated at St Joseph’s College, Buea, 1957-1961; Midwest Polytechnic, now Auchi Polytechnic; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1973. Ikimi started his civil service career with the former Midwest Ministry of Works; was chairman, Tomline Engineering Company Limited, Benin, Edo State; nominated member, Constituent Assembly, 1988-1989; chairman, National Republican Convention, NRC, 1989-1993; minister of foreign affairs, 1994-1998; Ikimi, who is one of the leaders of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, holds the traditional titles of Inneh of Igueben; Akinrogun of Ife, and a member of Ikoyi Club among others.
