THE board of the U.S.-based Nigerian Sports and Cultural Organisation has announced the postponement of the 2023 edition of the annual Nigerian Sports and Cultural Carnival.

The 14th edition of the carnival is slated to hold on Saturday, Aug. 12th in New Jersey.

In a statement, Mr Anozie Ugenyi, Chairman of the board expressed the organisation’s regret to postpone the carnival.

Ugenyi said the postponement of the carnival was due to the withdrawal of the hosting rights by management of Essex County Department of Parks and Recreation.

“Without any doubt we know the inconveniences this will bring to your organisation, yourselves, and your children, knowing that you have been part of the planning from the very beginning.

“We are really sorry about this, and we promise that we will be back bigger and better.

“To all our corporate sponsors we plead that you bear with us as we go through this knowing that will come out on the other side better.

“To all the parents, we know you might have called out or taken vacation in order to attend the events We are very sorry, and we plead with you as well.

“All the teenagers – boys and girls who have made the carnival an annual pilgrimage, there is no way we can compensate you at this moment,” he said.

He thanked the participants for their cooperation and understanding, calling for more commitment to make the next edition a success.

“We are hoping that you will remain committed to us as we plan for next year.

“Thank you so much and may God bless you and all your endeavor,” he said. (NAN)
