Ukodhiko’s bills to establish Federal Varsity of Agric, Medical Centre in Isoko pass first reading

TWO bills which seek to establish a Federal University of Agriculture in Erawha-Owhe, and Federal Medical Centre in Oleh, Isoko North and South Local Government Areas respectively, have passed their first readings in the House of Representatives.

The bills, titled, “Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023”, and “Federal University of Agriculture, Erawha-Owhe (Establishment) Bill, 2023” were sponsored by Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, member representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency.

Both bills by the Isoko federal lawmaker, Hon. Ukodhiko were listed in the Order Paper of Tuesday plenary session presided by the speaker, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abass, and were presented for first reading on the floor of the House of Representatives .

According to the bills’ sponsor, Hon Ukodhiko, “they are in fulfillment of my promise of better legislative representation and greater dividends of democracy to my Isoko people as their representative at the National Assembly.

“Isoko-nation is one of the most endowed places in terms of human and natural resources. And I believe there are so much we can do to harness the natural endowments of Isoko and also improve the infrastructure of Isoko to make it an industrial, nay investment hub.

“Thus, the bills for the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture and, a Federal Medical Centre will meet the education, Agriculture and health aspirations of my constituents and, they will further fast-tracked the development of Isoko and Delta State.”

Ukodhiko, who is the Deputy Chairman, House committee on Science and Technology,  added that, “These recent bills like the previous ones, and others to come reflect my commitment to service as evident in my efforts to better the lot of my constituents through quality representation.”
