One of them, Halima Abubakar, from Bade Local Government Area, said she needed the training to effectively engage in economic activities, modern business and economic ventures.

“This will provide me with opportunity to source for customers in need of goods and raw materials which abound here,  and to also buy other goods on line for sale, without traveling out of this environment,’’she said.

Usman Kagu, a beneficiary from Jakusko Local Government Area, said the training would provide participants with means of livelihood and take them away from social vices and conflicts.

Mulima Usman, a trainee from Karasuwa Local Government Area, said he was happy to be among the lucky 400 of the 20,000 successful applicants to benefit from the programme.

NAN reports that the PCNI on Tuesday, inaugurated the ICT Resource Centre at the Federal University, Gashua, in Yobe, to promote entrepreneurial skills among youth.

Alhaji Tujjani Tumsah, Vice Chairman, PCNI, who inaugurated the ICT centre, said the centre was to train youth on digital graphics and repairs of smart phone, thereby providing them with means of livelihood and promoting self-reliance.

“We believe that the programme would lead to the establishment of a safe, secure and prosperous north-east sub-region, as well as a model for post-conflict socio-economic recovery and development.

“With the right skills, people are better equipped to set up their own businesses and in turn, create jobs and make them active partakers in the economy,’’he said.

He said two ICT skill centres would be established in every state of the north-east to provide youth with ICT skills for economic prosperity. (NAN)
