THE lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Sesi Whingan, said on Friday that the National Assembly was making laws that would improve the lives of Nigerians.

Whingan disclosed this during a media chat held in his residence in Badagry, where he acknowledged the hardship in the land.

“We are making laws that will better all and sundry in the country, I will only appeal to Nigerians to be patient with the present administration of President Bola Tinubu,” he said

The lawmaker said that he was in 11 House Committees to ensure that Badagry people enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“As I often say, I am not at the National Assembly for merriment or for my personal gains; my mission at the House of Representatives is to ensure Badagry’s development.

“This is another reason I carefully strive to belong to house committees that will aid my resolve for Badagry’s development.

“I will ensure that all the 11 house committees to which I belong are relevant committees that I can use as platform to attract development to Badagry,” he said.

Whingan said that he had sponsored 15 bills in the house within his six months in office, out of which 11 had passed second reading.

“All of these bills are bills for national development, which will also benefit Badagry.

“Rest assured, I will spare no effort to give Badagry the quality representation it deserves for its development.

“My engagement has been how to move my people out of poverty,” he said.

On empowerment of his constituents, Whingan said that he would create a data base for his people in order to meet the needs of this constituents.

“Before, we had seen a situation in which sewing machine had been given to a carpenter in the name of empowerment.

“We are not doing our own this way, with the data base we will have all information of our people and their needs.

“I may not empower many, but if they are just few people, they will be satisfied with the empowerment,” he said.

The lawmaker said that his office was open to the people, promising that he would give them a listening ear. (NAN)
