Wheelchair Basketball: We’ll organise more competitions to keep players fit – President says

Johnson Oluwaseyi , the président of wheelchair basketball Federation, said the Federation would continue to organise more competitions to keep players fit for international competitons.
Oluwaseyi who stated tbis in an interviee with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja, said that the Federation was determined to revive the game in the country.
According to the president, the sport has been stagnant for six years without competitions.
“I became president in 2023 and we resolved that in spite of the challenges we will do our best to organise competitions.
“Betking wheelchair Basketball League is one of the products of our commitment.
“We have another competition in August which is tagged ‘Presidential Cup ‘ in Edo.
“We will organise more competitions in 2025 to recover from the stagnant years,”he said.
The president said the Federation will continue to work to make Nigeria team the best in Africa.
” Our national team participated in the Africa qualifiers in few days after I became president in 2023 and they qualified for Paris.
“We decided to organise the presidential cup in August, the same time of Paralympics so that they will be busy with our local competition ,” he said
NAN reports that Betking Wheelchair Basketball League fantastic final four which started on Monday ended on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola National stadium, Abuja.(NAN)
