33-year-old arraigned for allegedly stealing blocks, phone, money

ONE 33-year-old Lawal Lateef on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing 500 blocks worth N150,000
Lateef, whose residential address was not provided, is charged with theft but he pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2021 about 10. 40 a.m. at Wakajaiye in Ibadan.
Ibrahim also alleged that the defendant stole a phone worth N14, 500 and cash of N847, 000.
He said that all the stolen items belonged to one Mr Segun Showemimo.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 383 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. B. Oyekanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oyekanmi directed that the sureties must be blood relations of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for hearing. (NAN)
