GOV. Willie Obiano says the government has resolved to continue to give Ndi Anambra the best governance in spite of challenges associated with insecurity ravaging the country.

Gov. Obiano said this at the 2021 Reputation/Awards Summit of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, held by the Anambra State Chapter in Awka, on June 17.

“Our resolve to securing lives and property of Ndi Anambra is intact. The security challenges all over Nigeria have adversely affected the economy.

“We are working toward inaugurating the Passengers/Cargo Airport at Umueri, without borrowing a kobo from anywhere.

“Hopefully, in two months we shall have the biggest conference centre in Africa.

“Our sports stadium project is progressing, all without borrowing,’’ he said.

The governor, who spoke through the commissioner for information and public enlightenment, C Don Adinuba, thanked NIPR Anambra State chapter for making good image of Anambra State, asking for continuity.

He recounted his support to the NIPR in the past, pledging to continue.

The President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo, represented by Ike Neriaku, urged the NIPR members to work hard to rewrite the narratives of Nigeria’s reputation image gone sour. This is occasioned by insecurity.

The Chairman of the occasion, Uche Nworah, and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Broadcasting Service, ABS, extolled the NIPR Anambra State Chapter for the right choice of the theme: “Security Challenges in Nigeria: Implications for National Stability and Reputation’’.

He described the theme as apt, a good tool to managing insecurity problems in Nigeria.

The Chairman NIPR, Anambra State Chapter, Prof. Stella Okunna, while welcoming guests to the summit said: “It is my delight seeing you all in this occasion. It is a meeting to tackle security challenges facing us as a country.

“Everyone ought to sit up and work hard in helping out. It is wrong to run to developed countries, where people were able to stand up to their challenges and built their countries.

`Let us sit back and face challenges in building our own country,’’ she said.

The award of excellence recipients included Prof. Greg. Chukwudi Nwakoby, Vice-Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, Tessy Okoli, Provost, Federal Polytechni, Oko, and Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Others are Obini Onuchukwu, Acting Registrar, Fed. Poly., Oko., Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, Fnipr Chairman, NIPR Anambra State Chapter and Kehinde Aremu, State Coordinator, NYSC, Anambra State.
