THE Ikosi-Isheri Local Government Development Area (LCDA) has concluded plans to hold the Ikosi-Isheri Magodo 2022 Cultural Carnival to commemorate the 62nd Nigeria independence anniversary.

The LCDA Executive Chairman, Mrs Abolanle Bada, made this known during the stakeholders’ interactive session on the forthcoming carnival in Lagos on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the festival is “Our Culture, Not Our Religion.”

Bada said that the two-day event, slated between Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, would serve as a better opportunity for the council to celebrate the nation’s independence anniversary.

She said the carnival would also showcase the rich cultural heritage and unite the different ethnic groups in the area through arts and culture.

The chairman said she believed that the first edition held in 2021 was still fresh in the memory of participants, adding that the second one would feature more activities.

He also said that the festival was in line with THEMES, a developmental agenda, introduced by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.

“This administration upon resumption of office, promised to be in line with Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES, a developmental agenda for a greater Lagos, in which entertainment and tourism took an integral parts.

“As a responsible and proactive government, our administration has decided to use this cultural carnival, characterised with entertainment and tourism.

“This to promote the cultures and colours of various ethnicity as well as communities in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

“This second edition will be loaded with outstanding creative performance of the various field of display such as Fuji Maestro Ayinde Wasiu Marshal, Sir Shina Peters, Obesere, Pasuma.

“Others performers are QDot, Kofi, Saheed Balogun, Bella Shamuda, OT, Sato dancers from Badagry, Olaijo Arts and Galleras well as Ewi,” she said.

Bada noted that being the month of the World’s Tourism Day, colour, ethnicity and religious did not matter as people.
