Man, 35, in court over alleged stabbing neighbour with broken bottle

Police in Osun on Monday arraigned a 35-year-Old, Francis James, before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over alleged stabbing one Gregory Nwoeze , his neighbour with a broken bottle.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 11, around Ido-Afeki Area, off Ilesa Road, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant unlawfully assaulted Nwoeze by allegedly stabbed him on the stomach, forehead and hands with a broken bottle, which resulted in open injuries.
He said that the offence contravened section 266 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to a count charge of assault proffered against him.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Babawale Omodogbe, applied for the bail of the defendant in the most liberal term, with a promise that his client would not jump bail if granted.
Magistrate A. I. Oyebadejo granted the defendant bail in the sum of M500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oyebadejo added that the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction and should produce three recent passport photographs each.
The case was adjourned until April 5, for hearing.(NAN)
