THE unending crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party is affecting governmental activities in the country. Some Nigerians fear that the crisis could have a negative impact on the country’s democratic system, while others believe it will make the system to be strong. Below are what Nigerians said on the issue.
Christopher Okoro, Politician: The question I have been asking myself is what is all this hypocrisy about? Why do the few choose to mislead Nigerians? Why do they continue to toy with the psyche of ordinary Nigerians? Why are they trying to use the country to serve their personal interests? I can assure you, if these people are able to avoid the EFCCs of this world, the Police of this world, you shall not be able to bribe God his judgement.
Chukwudi Ogele, Marketer: This is all about 2015 and personal interests. If the fight the new PDP claims is to save Nigeria, then why will they be anti-probe? I see no reason why, they should include the demand not to be probed by the EFCC as a pre-condition for peace.
Ozoemena Alumona, Politician: What do you expect? You cannot expect noises where there are no souls. Without being sentimental, the crisis in PDP is a sign of many good things to come. It signals the liberation of Nigeria from the locusts called PDP.
Augustine Chijioke, Accountant: Our leaders should learn to rule with the fear of God, so that they have nothing to be afraid of while in office or after they have left. What is happening now means we need a new breed of leaders who can stand the test of time. For these present leaders, they need serious psychiatric examination.
Sunday Ekanem, Politician: There is no crisis in the PDP; what we have is a set of people who are aggrieved. You know in politics the minority will have a say, while the majority will have its way. President Jonathan is a peace-loving Nigerian and a democrat for that matter. I think this is the first time we are having a democrat as a president. Those who are distracting Nigerians are failed and expired people. They cannot add any value to this country again.
Johnson Dieke, Graduate: Why are these men wasting their time? They should form a party and challenge President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. What they are doing now will only give the opposition the advantage to strategise for the next general elections. But what we need now as a country is fresh people that will inject new ideas into our nascent democracy and not all these old men that only need our votes to continue their evil acts.
