2 men in court for allegedly causing death of apprentice in Lagos

The Police on Tuesday arraigned two men, Divine Ogidi and Favour Anyaogu in  an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing the  death of a 17-year-old apprentice.

Ogidi, 32, and Anyaogu, 22, are standing trial on a two-count charge for conspiracy and murder.

The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Jimah Iseghede told the court that the accused had committed the offences on Feb. 23, at No. 7, Kayode Bello St., off Celestial Road, Igando.

He said that the defendant allegedly beat up the 17-year-old boy, Chidozie Sunday, who was working as an  apprentic to death with a cane.

The offences contravened Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Kusanu admitted the duo to bail of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until May 3 for mention. (NAN)
