Anambra wins girls ICT competition

THE Anambra State team christened, ‘Team Vianney’ has emerged winners at the inaugural National Girls in ICT Competition, organized by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
The competition, aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s ICT landscape, provided a platform for secondary school girls to exhibit their prowess, creativity, and innovation in various ICT domains.
Under the mentorship of Kodex Africa, the Vianney Team from St. John Vianney Science College, Igbariam in Anambra East local government area, showcased their groundbreaking M-Tag VR solution. The innovative VR technology enables users to delve into Nigeria’s rich tapestry of culture and iconic landmarks, offering a unique learning and exploration experience.
Guided by their coach, John Onuigbo, and with support from Kodex Africa, the girls demonstrated exceptional spirit and skill throughout the competition, prevailing over formidable opponents, including tough competition from the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The leader of the team, Immaculate Ebube Ikegwuonu, expressed gratitude on behalf of her teammates, Camilla Anyadike, and Nweke-Nonso Oluchi to the state government for giving them the opportunity to represent the state in the competition.
“We are immensely grateful for this opportunity and indebted to our school for fostering our passion for ICT careers,” Ikegwuonu said.
“This victory is a testament to the dedication and talent of these young girls. They have not only showcased their technical skills, but also their ability to innovate and problem-solve.
“We are honored to have played a part in their journey and express our gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy for entrusting us with this important initiative.
