NO fewer than 1,000 female entrepreneurs in Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have benefitted from N10 million disbursed by Sardaunan Gwandu Foundation, to boost their petty businesses.
The founder of the foundation, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna-Rasheed stated this at the disbursement in Gwandu, on Monday.
Haruna-Rasheed, who is the Special Adviser to Gov. Atiku Bagudu on Power and Sardaunan Gwandu in Gwandu Emirate, said the gesture was in continuation of what he started as assistance to girls in the state to boost their petty trades.
The Special Adviser said the disbursement was to promote cap knitting ventures in the local government area.
He added that the empowerment was designed to help young unemployed female entrepreneurs to start their small businesses, while others to expand their existing ones.
“The foundation’s next disbursement of N10m will be for the promotion of brown sugar (mazarkwaila) and dry meet (kilishi) production. We will also extend the gesture to Argungu and its environs.
“Forms will be handed over to Magajin Rafin Kebbi, Alhaji Bello Dantani, for distribution to potential beneficiaries,” he assured.
During the event, the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr Nasiru Idris, enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds.
Idris, who is also the Kauran Gwandu, described Haruna-Rasheed’s gesture as commendable and inspiring.
He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by voting APC in all elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
Earlier, the District Head of Gwandu, Alhaji Zayyanu Bello-Rasheed, lauded the empowerment initiative, saying it would help beneficiaries to achieve economic prosperity. (NAN)
