Ishaya said that the event is a hybrid and a follow up from the July meeting earlier conducted by the association.

He explained that members of the association are constantly going through hazard in the course of performing their duties, adding that series of attention have been drawn to their plight.

The NARD president however expressed optimism that progress was being made to overcome some of the challenges facing members.

Dasilva assured the association of continuous effort to engage members on improving welfarism, while also pledging support of the management of the hospital.

He also advised NARD to key into the Federal Government Health Reform Committee and make recommendations where necessary changes can be made for the health sector.

According to him, the association can form a committee in order to formulate memorandum that can assist the government.

Similarly, the NARD president who also visited the CMD of the state owned General Hospital, Ilorin, Dr Ahmed Abdulkadir, urged the management to look into salary structure of members.

Ishaya called on the management of the hospital to resolve the issue of under-staffing and domestication of residency programmes for NARD members at the hospital.

Also responding, Abdulkadir explained that the Residency Training at the general hospital started in 2020, adding that presently the training is on Family Medicine as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

He disclosed that the residency training would soon include Medicine and Surgery, adding that the present administration of Gov. AbdulRahman  AbdulRazaq has a soft spot for the health sector.

The CMD said the state government had already set up a committee to revamp the health sector, while urging the association to add their inputs. (NAN)
