A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 40-year-old man, Nahuatl Ezekiel, to three months in prison for stealing a motorcycle.

The Magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Ezekiel after he pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing.

Bokkos said that the punishment would serve as deterrent to others

He, however, gave Ezekiel an option to pay N20,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at a police station by one Mr Uriah Kamala on Feb. 15.

Gokwat said that the defendant broke into Kamala’s house, stole his motorcycle worth N135,000 and gave it to his friend.

The prosecutor told the court that during an investigation, the police recovered the stolen motorcycle and returned it to the complainant.

He said that the offence was punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code. (NAN)
