THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State branch, has  called on Anambra State Professor Charles Soludo to marshall out strategic and proactive measures towards tackling and eradicating violent high crimes rates  ubiquitous in the state.

The governor and the security personnel should overhaul security architecture of the state to ensure rapid improvements  in protection of lives and properties of the citizens.

A statement from the CLO made available to Realnews Friday, January 6, said: “We condemned and decried insensate and despicable killings, kidnapping and violent crimes in the state. This is very unfortunate, condemnable and barbaric that in very electioneering period incessant killings, kidnapping and violent crimes rear it’s ugly head in state. Government should unravel circumstances surrounding the pathetic and despicable situation as citizens lives in fear, regrets and agony.

“We appeal to the perpetrators to give peace a chance and obey God by respecting sanctity and sacredness of human persons.”

The statement tagged “the essence of government is for protection of lives and properties of the citizens” was signed by Evangelist Vincent Ezekwueme, CLO chairman and Chidi Mbah, secretary.

It said also that “The governor should look in the direction of calling on oil marketers in the state to reduce drastically outrageous prizes of petroleum products in state, even after Christmas and New Year holidays.”

‘This has not only skyrocketed prizes of goods and services,it has also bought and brought untold hardships, sufferings, pains and sorrow to the citizens. In Anambra State PMS prize ranges between #290 to #320 depending how much the marketer decides to sell because there is  no government monitoring or  regulations. The same petroleum products were sells between #175 to #185 in Asaba Delta state.

“One pertinent question from citizens begging for answer is “do Marketers in Anambra bought their products else where or the same place Delta state Marketers buys their own.

His excellency it is existential reality to note that citizens of Anambra wakes up as early as 4am to travel to Asaba in order to buy petroleum products at government regulated prizes which is not obtainable in Anambra.

We equally appeal to citizens to go and collect their PVC to avoid last minute rush.INEC should also make PVC collections less stressful.

“Remember it is only your PVC will enable you effects positive change in the country, not criticisms without taking actions to rights the wrongs of the society,” CLO posited.
