Speaker Abbas bemoans flood in Sabon Gari, seeks intervention for victims

THE Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has lamented the flood that affected parts of Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing it as unfortunate.

The flood occurred around Kogin Mata and Tudun Muntsira, Chikaji area of Sabon Gari on Monday after torrential rainfall. It destroyed property and rendered many residents homeless.

Speaker Abbas, while empathising with the victims of the flood, lamented that such an unfortunate incident happened at a time when people were making efforts to make ends meet.

He called for an urgent intervention to provide succour to the victims, urging them to stay calm while the government makes efforts to address their plight.

Specifically, the Speaker called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to come to the aid of the flood victims at this critical time.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen equally urged residents of the affected areas and adjoining places to take precautionary measures and heed to advisory from relevant authorities on flood.

He further called for concerted efforts to address the menace of flooding in the country.
